1974 VW Bug Rat Rod Budget Build "Dad's Doodle Bug"

Описание: A quick slide show & drive of our 1st official #RatRod build 6yrs ago & probably the one in the fleet that get's driven the most. This thing drives like a Cadillac, Handles like an Indy Car, & Straight Lines like a Top Fuel Funny Car!...... ok a little artistic licensing there but you get the idea. It's basically a big kid Go-Cart with turn signals... lol.
To list all the left-over-unwanted parts that went into this, would take 6 pages, but here's the skinny on most of it....... It started as a 1974 VW "flat glass" Beetle that I got for free if I stripped it. The only thing the guy wanted off it was the rolling pan (what was left of it) with the engine transaxle & front end. So we bought a couple full sticks of 2x4 tubing and went to work building the chassis, floor (from a recycled school bus), rear end from a 1976 Chevrolet Impala, & front end from a 1958 Ford F100 pickup. The small block Chevy 350 is from a 1989 Chevrolet Van, and the Transmision is a high stall kitted TH350 I bought from a local drag racing legend (Wayne you are the man!). I know for sure I left a whole lot out of that, but I think I got most it all in the slide-show for you and its much more fun to watch than to read it here right!
So that's the skinny on "Dad's Doodle Bug" and what launched us into the freedom of building Rat Rods! And yes.... this is also one of the many many backup plans I have for the up and coming #NoNameNationals this coming Sept 30th & Oct 1st at Sikeston MO. Chances are very good you will see either me or "the Big B" riding around Sikeston in this little bitty jumble of good times!
