LS & MS Tent. Interior tent where meeting is taking place. Seated Kenyatta is interviewed. Interviewer "Do you think that your release will be a threat to Kenyan security. Kenyatta "I do not think so". Interviewer; "You do not think so". Kenyatta: Definitely not. Interviwer: "And what about the Loyalist who are afraid of you". Kenyatta: "They have nothing to fear." Interviewer: "You wil discourage any". Kenyatta: "I have been discouraging any am revenge or any hatred and my aim is to have all the people united". Interviewer: "What do you think of Kenya's propects now that you have an elected government mainly composed of Africans." Kenyatta: "Well do not think that it is that way, that is is composed of Africans, becuase I think it's only, there are many black faces without power at present. I mean under Lancaster House constitution there are many Africans with black faces in the Council, with less power. All power rests with the Governor I think because he has the veto, he can veto anything that is passed by the council.". Interviewer: "Do you yourself consider yourself inclied more towards the National Union or the Democratic Union". Kenyatta: "Iam am for all Africans, I am not do belong to KANU or CADU, I belong to them all." Interviwer: "Are you now at this time prepared to comdemn outright all excesses so far as the Mau Mau were concerned in the past". Kenyatta: "Not only Mau Mau but I thin all violence, I am non voilent myself." Interviwer: "You disagree with what they did during that time". Kenyatta: "Well I mean to say I still stick to my words which I ... which I repeat it again in ........" Intreviwer: His Excellency the Governor has called you can evil man who will lead to darkness and to death, What are your feelings on this" Kenyatta: "Well that is a lie, I think there is no grain of truth in that because my whole life I have been trying to uplift my whole people to better ways of life". Kenyatta stands in Landrover and is driven through crowd. Crowd. Kenyatta out of Landrover. Some of crowd climb over fence and run across football pitch. Crowd. Kenyatta acknowledges crowd. Crowd. Kenyatta adressing crowd (mute).
