Rob: Rob here etrailer.com. Today you're going to be taking a look at the Draw Tite class three custom fit trailer hitch receiver on our 2015 Lexus NX 200 turbo. Now here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed. Now it is going to sit right below the bumper, but the cross tube shoots back a little bit, so the main thing we see is the receiver tube and the cross tube's just going to be kinda hidden underneath the bottom here.Now with it's a class three hitch, which means it's going to give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, so we're going to have the biggest variety of options when it comes to accessories. Whether we want to free up some space on the inside, we can put a cargo carrier, put all that gear on the outside of our Lexus, or if we want to go on a trip and take some bikes with us, you can put a bike rack in here, or if we tow a trailer, we can use a ball mount. But however we're going to be using it, we're going to mount all of our accessories using the hitch pin hole here on the side.

The hitch is going to accept a standard five eighths pin and clip. Now these are not included with the kit but you can find them here at etrailer.com.You may be wondering what the secondary hole towards the opening the receiver tube is for, and that's going to be exclusively for the J-Pin stabilization device. Now the way this is going to work, it's going to have a threaded end that'll go into our hitch pin hole and then we'll take the nut and tighten it up and that's going to draw that hook into the receiver tube and that's going to apply pressure to our accessory, and it's going to take a lot of the slack and play out of it so it's not going to rattle. Now it's also a locking device so it's going to make sure our accessories are secure. Now this is sold separately, but you can find it here along with other anti-rattle devices and locking devices here at etrailer.com.Now if you are going to be using your hitch to tow a trailer, obviously you need a spot to hook up your safety chains.

We're going to have a plate style welded to the bottom here. You can see even with some of the smaller hooks, we'll be able to get them on, just keep in mind that the flange here is a little thick, so with those smaller hooks and may be a little difficult to get them to rotate in the right position.Just to the left or towards the driver's side of our receiver tube, we're going to have this bracket welded onto the cross tube. That's going to be great because it'll allow us to mount any kind of electrical accessories, if we have a trailer wiring for our Lexis, whether we have a four, five, six, or seven way, we can mount it up right here and it'd be ready for us whenever we want to hook up our trailer.Now regardless, if you're going to be using your hitch to pull a trailer or you're gonna be using it for recreational purposes like a bike rack or a cargo carrier. You want to make sure that it's up to the task. As far as the weight rating goes, our hitch is going to have a 350 pound tongue weight.

That's the maximum downward force at the end of the receiver tube. That'd be great for some of those larger bike racks carrying up to four or five bikes or some of those larger cargo carriers, able to maximize the carrying capacity.As far as the gross trailer weight rating goes, it's gonna have a 3,500 pound rating. That's how much the hitch can pull, but that does include the trailer and everything you have loaded on it. Now it is compatible with weight distribution systems as well, and that's going to be a separate component that's mounted on your trailer, but that's going to bump the tongue weight up to 400 pounds and the gross trailer weight rating up to 4,000 pounds. With all those numbers in mind, you want to make sure to double check your Lexus's owner's manual because you don't want to exceed the manufacturer's recommended weight.I'd like to give you a few measurements and these are gonna help you whenever you're looking for accessories for your new hitch.

From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is right about four and a half inches. That measurement's going to help you out when you're looking at folding accessories to make sure you have enough room and they're not gonna come in contact with the rear bumper.
