Sewing an Exposed Core Cloth Pad

Описание: There are lots of ways to make exposed core pads this is my favorite way, it doesn't make it the right way. Just how I like to make them as quickly and easily as I can.

I make them in 2 parts. The exposed core I make first, then the base and sew them together. (any pattern with a core piece will work for this. I'm using a free one I found online years ago)

To make the exposed core, any topper fabric you want and an extra fabric like cotton or flannel (you won't see this so any scrap piece works, it doesn't have to match). I used dot minky and cotton woven for the hidden part, and the core is 2 layers of original Zorb so it's a heavy absorbency pad.

Sew zorb to the backside of the topper. then put the topper and the extra piece facing in towards eachother, pin and sew on the line. Leave a turn hole unsewn on a straight edge. (1.5-2" makes easier turning)

Trim seam allowance ~1/4" from the thread, leaving extra fabric at the turn hole.
Set aside for later.

Now we'll sew the base, this will be made like a liner, just a topper fabric and fleece/any backer fabric. I used a cotton woven for the top and fleece for the back. Sew like a regular pad (inside out, correct sides facing in towards eachother) Pin layers together and sew on the line leaving a turn hole open, I left my turn hole at the wing because this is a curvy pattern with no straight sides on the ends of the pad.

Trim seam allowance like above, flip inside out. & topstitch around entire base.

Now lay the exposed core on top, center it (a washable glue stick helps hold it in place if its shifting). Sew the core directly to the base. Sew on the core piece ~1/4-3/16" from the edge of the core piece.
