Clio Manage's New Automated Workflows Feature

Until now, law firms using Clio Manage had to rely on external automation platforms like Zapier or Make.com to automate their workflows, but that's changing with this new native automation capability.

While still in beta, Clio allows you to automate three key activities:

✅ Automatically assign task lists when matter stages change
Define which stages trigger task assignments
Control whether tasks repeat when matters move back to previous stages
Assign to responsible attorney OR responsible staff (new role!), e.g. your paralegal or case manager
All due dates calculated automatically based on your task list settings

✅ Generate documents based on templates when matter stages update
Automatically create both Word and PDF versions of your documents
All merge fields populated with matter information
Ideal for demand letters, client updates, and standardized legal documents
Documents appear directly in your matter's document section

✅ Apply matter templates when matters are converted from Clio Grow
Automatically set up document folders structure (like medical records, bills, etc.)
Configure billing preferences (hourly, flat fee, contingency)
Ensure consistent matter setup without manual work
