Abigail Jo Shry is a Texas woman who was sentenced to federal prison after admitting she made violent threats against a federal judge overseeing a high-profile election case involving Donald Trump. In August 2023, shortly after Tanya Chutkan was assigned to the case related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, Shry left a voicemail threatening to kill “anyone who went after President Trump.” Prosecutors said the message also included threats against Democrats and members of the LGBTQ community. She was later charged with transmitting an interstate threat, a federal offense. Shry pleaded guilty in November 2024 and was sentenced in November 2025 to 27 months in prison. She was ordered to self-surrender to begin serving her sentence in February 2026. Authorities say she failed to report as required, and a bench warrant has been issued for her arrest. She is now considered a fugitive while federal officials work to locate her.
