As per some copies of Vishnu Sahasra Naamam available currently; according to "Sage Agasthi"; the recitation of Shri Vishnu Sahasranamam is not completely useful without recitation of this important mantra in the beginning; either 10 (more convenient) or 100 times...

The Shap Vimochan Mantra is said to be written by the great Sage Agasti. The meaning of the word "Shaap" here is not "curse" exactly...Take an example of a bitter medicine pill coated in sugar- Similarly the stotra itself bears tremendous mystic power and for an ordinary person to "bear" it; this mantra acts as a sort of "adaptation"; to channelize the energy of the chant in the most beneficial way.

The pronunciation of words is important...pay special attention to Hrasva-Deergha; Visarga followed by different consonants and Laghu-Guru Matras in the Anushtup Chhanda. This is the real tongue twister...Hence regular recitation of this prayer is really useful for speech and memory problems.
