Poland’s Foreign Minister Warns India: Russia’s Hybrid War and Treaty Violations

Описание: Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski used his visit to India to deliver a blunt warning about Russia’s conduct, highlighting treaty violations, hybrid warfare and the long-term security risks facing Europe. Speaking at the Jaipur Literature Festival, Sikorski said Moscow’s actions go far beyond conventional warfare and include sabotage, arson, drone intrusions and what he described as acts of state terrorism.

During a panel discussion on Russia, Ukraine and Europe’s future, Sikorski accused President Vladimir Putin of hypocrisy, noting that Russia signed border treaties with Ukraine while later violating them through military aggression. He recalled that Ukraine once gave up the world’s third-largest nuclear arsenal in exchange for security guarantees that were ultimately breached.

The Polish foreign minister also warned of growing strategic interdependence between Russia and China. He said the Ukraine war has made Moscow increasingly dependent on Beijing for economic survival, technology and cyber services, while Russia destabilises other regions by transferring advanced weapons technologies.

Sikorski stressed that Europe can no longer rely solely on external security guarantees and must strengthen its own defence capabilities. During his India visit, he also held talks on expanding economic cooperation and Polish investment, underlining the broader diplomatic significance of Poland’s outreach to India.
