My Experience with DirectSails.Com - new Main Sail for my Alberg 37

Описание: The main purpose of this clip is to share my experience with Direct Sails. I have to admit that I was hesitant to have a sail custom made in a different country. I tried to find information about Direct Sails, but there wasn’t really any. There were some positive reviews on their website, but that doesn’t necessary reflect reality. The first time I started looking for sails was about 2 years ago. First I went to the mainstream manufactures sites, like North Sails, Doyle and so on. It didn’t take long for me to realize that those were way out of my very limited budget. And trying to find a decent used sail fo a 50 year old Alberg was just about impossible. I narrowed it down to 2 more unknown manufactures, Precision Sails and Direct Sails. I received quotes from both and they were pretty similar. But what stood out with Direct was the more detailed info. And finally when I received the email about the black Friday discounts I contacted Direct Sails and got the ball rolling. Richard answered every question I had in a very clear manner and he really took his time to make sure I’m getting exactly what I needed. After I agreed to move ahead I received email correspondence from the design team in Hong Kong. I had to provide precise measurements, including pretty much anything about Mast head height, Mast head design, distance from mast to back stay, type of sail tracks and few more. I have to admit that I was a little overwhelmed. I didn’t expect all those details were needed. I was in a way naive to think that they could just go by online sail specs of the Alberg 37. But then I came to think, the boat is 50 years old, so some things may had been changed over time. I called Richard again and after a short conversation he was able to clear it all up and the design team had all the info they needed. I kept getting frequent email regarding the progress. When the sail was ready I received an email with pics and measurements of the new sail. I was ask to verify if everything was correct. It was, I received another invoice for the balance. After submitting payment it took about 3 days when I received the tracking #. It took less than a week for the sail to arrive at my house. Then I started the video. To conclude this I would highly recommend Direct Sails. I’m not sponsored by them nor do I receive any kickbacks from them. I just wanted to share my personal experience and maybe help a fellow sailor who’s also on a tight budget. Thank you for watching my video.
