Why Is France Protesting? 🇫🇷 | October 2026

Описание: 🇫🇷 France Protests | October 2026

Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets across France on October 17, protesting rising living costs, low wages, and deteriorating public services.

The demonstrations began in September with students demanding improvements to overcrowded classrooms, teacher shortages, and school conditions. The movement later expanded to include labor unions, workers, and supporters of the Yellow Vest movement.

An estimated 550,000–800,000 people participated nationwide.

While most demonstrators protested peacefully, violence erupted in several cities, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Bordeaux. Cars were set on fire, businesses were looted, and clashes broke out between police and groups of rioters.

By October 20, authorities had introduced partial curfews in several cities, while protesters and unions were calling for further demonstrations.

The unrest comes amid growing concerns about France’s economy, public spending, and the rising cost of everyday life.

What do you think governments should do to address the concerns behind these protests?
