🔬 Ayurveda – Time-Tested Science: Ayurveda is a science that has been practised for thousands of years. Its authenticity is proven through ancient texts. Ayurveda is a treatment that is in harmony with nature. There is a misconception among people that "Ayurveda is slow". If you give the right diagnosis, the right medicine, and the right way, you will see results quickly.
🧪 Side effects of Ayurveda
Misunderstanding: It is believed that Ayurveda has no side effects. If you take medicines not prescribed by a doctor, Ayurveda can also have side effects.
🏥 The gap between modern medicine and Ayurveda: There is still a strong difference of opinion between the two treatment methods in Kerala. Some doctors are hostile to Ayurveda. But in institutions like NIMHANS (Bangalore), which are the most prominent centers in India, integrated medicine is used – modern + Ayurvedic doctors work together.
🩹 Surgery vs Ayurveda:
Some minor problems – minor ligament injuries etc. – do not need to go directly to surgery. There are possibilities to reduce minor damages through Ayurveda and rebuild the body. But when it comes to life-saving stages, modern medicine becomes important.
🧘 Tradition and modernity:
While ancient doctors could quickly identify the disease, today, with imaging techniques like X-ray, MRI, CT scan, treatment is done more scientifically. Today's Ayurvedic doctors have to learn the basics of modern medicine – physiology, anatomy, pathology etc.
🧪 Research & recognition:
Something like Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has even won the Nobel Prize. But one of the main reasons why Ayurveda in India has not reached this level is lack of research. New research centers are now doing more work.
✅ General idea:
Modern medicine and Ayurveda should not be "competitive", but "complementary".
🔚 Previous observation:
As Dr. Nandini Varma says in this:
Ayurveda still exists because it is changing by incorporating technology and science.
The purpose is to provide relief to the patient.
If the integrated approach is adopted, it can be used effectively in hospitals.
This is an authentic debate, where the concerns and misconceptions among the public are discussed openly and clearly in real time.
