Microbial Strain Improvement

Описание: At the very beginning, when an industrially important strain is isolated from the natural habitats, its just like an ordinary dog. In order to convert it to do very specialized task, you have change its genetic composition. This process is called strain improvement. It is not only required for new strain, but also recommended for old strain too. After successful improvement process, microbes are able to produced more amount of fermented products.
All natural process like- transformation, transduction, conjugation and recombination are very slow and generally not used for strain improvement, unless necessary. Induced mutagenesis, recombinant DNA technology and metabolic engineering are used more frequently for the strain improvement. Check out this video to learn more.
