Holocaust survivors share firsthand stories with students as antisemitism rises in Florida

Palm Beach County students heard history directly from those who lived it on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Holocaust survivors, including an Auschwitz survivor, visited Crestwood Middle School in Royal Palm Beach on Tuesday to share their firsthand experiences and the lasting impact of hate.

One of the speakers, Holocaust survivor Mickey Warshawski, told students about being imprisoned at Auschwitz as a teenager and what freedom meant when the camp was liberated 81 years ago.

“When I was finally freed, I had no parents, no family, nobody close,” Warshawski said. “Everyone I grew up with was gone.”
