Situated in the Dibang Valley District of Arunachal Pradesh, Anini is a small developing town owing to its remote location. With some very basic amenities that include road and air connectivity to the rest of the country, the town is completely dependent on the nearest neighboring town, called Roing, in the Lower Dibang Valley. Anini is also known to be a significant stop for the Arunachal Helicopter Service which connects the town to the rest of A.P. and the Dibrurgarh Airport in Assam. The tribal populace of Idu Mishmi is present here in the majority and the town’s placed on a small plateau in between Dibang River’s tributaries – the Mathun and Dri rivers.

The closest airport to Anini is in Tezpur, which is roughly 300km by road, while the best way to reach Anini is to take a flight to Guwahati/Dibrugarh. There’s a helicopter service at Itanagar via Roing and in Assam, the closest airport to Anini would be Mohanbari, Dibrugarh. If you’re planning to travel from New Delhi, then take a flight to Dibrugarh Airport which takes about 2 and a half hours. You can make the onward journey to Anini by taxi, which is another 6 hours and 14 minutes at approx. fare of INR 6,000. Flights operating to Dibrugarh include Indigo and Spicejet.

By Train

The closest railway station to Anini is in Tinsukia which is well connected to most major Indian cities and many Rajdhani Trains stop here. From New Delhi, it takes about 39 hours approx. at an estimated fare of INR 1,100 to Dibrugarh Town/New Tinsukia and includes Indian Railway Train Nos. 12424 and 20506 that operate once daily for Dibrugarh. On arrival at Dibrugarh/New Tinsukia, you can then take a taxi or drive down to Anini. The drive to Anini from New Tinsukia is roughly 5 hours and 35 minutes.

By Road

The distance by road between Roing and Anini is about 235 km and there are Sumo Services available to drive down to Anini. A cab ride would take approx. 8 hours at an estimated fare of INR 3,800, while a self-drive would entail INR 3,000 as fuel cost. It is best to hire a taxi or rental bike/car to travel to Anini, as there’s limited transportation availability owing to its isolated location.
