Rule, Britannia! is arranged for three fifes derived from the music in the "Judgement of Paris" composed in the 1740s by Thomas Augustine Arne as titled, “The Score of The celebrated ODE, in Honour of GREAT BRITAIN call’d Rule BRITANNIA.” The lyrics were penned in 1740 in form of a poem by James Thomson, imploring Britain to rule the waves, a fait accompli in 1815 after the Battle of Waterloo.
