She slipped through the cracks because she didn’t have the typical hyperactive symptoms and learnt how to hide what symptoms she did have so she wouldn’t stick out.
But once the structure of school was gone, she struggled to keep up. Even the most mundane tasks like brushing her teeth and eating became overwhelming.
“Your brain is screaming at you to do it, begging you to do it, but you just can't. You've expended so much energy trying to be a normal person, and it all comes crashing down,” Ruby says.
