In this video I randomly discover a hidden grandma café in Japan while walking through a quiet neighborhood.
The owner is an incredibly kind grandmother in her 80s who has been running this small café that has been in her family for over 100 years.
While I was there she served me toast and breakfast, took photos like she does with all of her customers, and shared stories about her life and the restaurant.
I felt like I needed to give something back, so I left to buy her a small gift. When I returned with sake and chocolates she was completely surprised and emotional. She even gave me something very personal in return.
Moments like this are why I love exploring Japan and meeting local people.
These are the kinds of hidden places and genuine experiences you can only find when you wander into random shops.
