1. *Birth and early life*: Cantor Aryeh Rand was born in Tel Aviv in 1952. As a child, he was a student of Cantor Shlomo Ravitz and joined the ‘Ohel Shem’ choir at age 7.
2. *Education*: He studied at Yeshiva high school ‘Hayishuv Hachadash’ in Tel Aviv, then continued Jewish studies at ‘Yeshivat Beit Hatalmud’ in Jerusalem.
3. *Military service*: He served as a tankist in the I.D.F. fighting forces instead of joining the religious army choir.
4. *Career*: At age 15, he began conducting services on Shabbat and High Holy days in Israeli synagogues. He graduated from the Israeli Cantorial Institute under Eli Jaffe.
5. *Teachers and projects*: His teachers included Eli Jaffe, Cantors S.B. Taube, I. Eshel, and Naftali Herstik. He worked on projects sponsored by the Chaim and Gila Wiener Foundation.
6. *Current position*: He is now serving as the Chazan of the largest congregation in South Africa, in Sea Point, Cape Town.
