5-24-2025 Preparing Well…

Описание: Jackie and Shadow spent their Friday date night on the Roost Tree, so the chicks were in charge overnight. Jackie was awake early collecting and delivering sticks, instead of fish. Of course, the entire family's crops were all stuffed to the max that night after ten fish were delivered to the nest.

Perhaps Mom and Dad were anticipating a fledge soon and wanted those crops full just in case. Jackie hauled in five sticks to Shadow's one, all before 10am on Saturday. Maybe the chicks were hoping for at least one breakfish!
Jackie made sure the chicks saw her big quirky-shaped branch as she placed it in the middle of the nest first, then on the front porch. They decided to rest instead and play a little game of “pick up sticks” with smaller twigs.

Shadow hung out with the chicks for a while until Jackie finally brought a lunch fish, which Gizmo claimed. Gizmo didn't hang on to it for very long though before Sunny won that tug ‘o fish battle.

Shadow headed out and returned shortly with a second fish. Sunny claimed this one but Gizmo was persistent and another tug ‘o fish took place. Both tugged, with Gizmo the clear winner. However, Sunny was on the edge of the nest and could have easily taken a spill but locked down those strong legs to stay balanced to avoid it. Mom and Dad looked on with curiosity, then Shadow flew off after hearing some ravens nearby.

After lunch, Sunny and Gizmo posed for some close-up photos together up on the back porch as the wind blew through their feathers. Sunny spent time further out on the front porch with Dad. Shadow later jumped up to the high perch and flew out to meet Jackie on the Roost Tree for the night.

The chicks tucked themselves in for their 6th night alone. They enjoyed some fun stick play together before calling it a night. Sunny moved to the front porch to sleep standing up and tucked in at night for the first time. Gizmo slept standing for a little bit, then chose to lie back down.
