STORYLINE:
A small memorial for the six U.S. soldiers killed in a drone strike at a command center in Kuwait last week was set up at Tel Aviv's Dizengoff square on Tuesday.
The six members of the Army Reserve, who worked in logistics and kept troops supplied with food and equipment, died when a drone hit a command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, one day after the U.S. and Israel launched their military campaign against Iran.
Iran responded by launching missiles and drones against Israel and several Gulf Arab states that host U.S. armed forces.
The six soldiers identified by the Pentagon were: Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, 54, of Sacramento; Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa; Sgt. Declan Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa,; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Capt. Cody Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida; and Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska.
"It's heartbreaking. It's a war, people die. It's sad. My heart goes out to their families," Tel Aviv resident Dana Gottesdeiner told The Associated Press.
It comes as Iran launched new attacks on Tuesday at Israel and Gulf Arab countries as it kept up pressure on the Middle East in a war started by Israel and the United States that has sent oil prices surging and stunned global economies.
Sirens warned of incoming missiles in the international business hub of Dubai, while in Bahrain authorities said an Iranian attack hit a residential building in the capital, killing a 29-year-old woman and wounding eight others.
