James Lawson (a northeast Ohio native) stepped to the podium and gave us charge to '[…] not be quiet as long as our nation continues to be the most violent culture in the history of humankind.' And let me be clear, in keeping to our 105-year mission (and history), Karamu House is not staying quiet.
Our mission of producing theatre, providing arts education, and presenting community programs while honoring the African American experience is vitally important during the Black Lives Matter movement of today. In the safest way possible, we are continuing to fulfill our mission while creating awareness and dialogue about these important issues."
