The permanent migration ceiling “is set at 190,000 a year,” with the cap not accounting for immigration as Australia looks set to suffer a “post-war boom” housing crisis, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“That's often people that are already here on student visas and other working visas and so forth,” Mr Clennell told Sky News Australia.
“That’s when they get permanent settlement – that’s the amount we allow to permanently settle here.”
