Dating to 1956 and produced by the famous Jam Handy Productions for General Motors, "Jet Ace" explains Chevrolet's new Ramjet fuel injection, highlighting its role in ushering in a new age of automotive performance. It traces the history of fuel systems from early carburetors to modern fuel injection, emphasizing the importance of precise fuel-air mixture control. The film details how fuel injection, initially developed for jet engines and later adapted for heavy-duty and racing engines, provides instant engine response, flexibility, and economy for passenger cars. Chevrolet's Ramjet fuel injection system is described as a dynamic engineering advancement that automatically adjusts fuel flow, ensuring optimal performance, quick starts, smooth warm-ups, and overall fuel efficiency. The system's manifold design creates a true Ramjet effect, enhancing engine response and command, offering drivers a superior and efficient driving experience.

The Rochester Ramjet fuel injection system was developed by the Rochester Products Division of General Motors and first offered as a high-performance option on the Corvette and GM passenger cars in 1957. It was discontinued partway through 1965 in favor of the Chevrolet Big Block as a performance option. Unlike electronic fuel injection systems that would become common decades later, the Ramjet is purely mechanical and relies on vacuum and pressure signals to measure airflow and meter fuel.
Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you.
