We’re so excited to finally share the truth about what we did last April…

For years, the Happy Tails shelter in Nafpaktos, Greece, has relied on community volunteers to care for over 100 rescued dogs - many of them large breeds that have been abandoned or abused. These are dogs that simply have nowhere else to go.

In April, with the generous support of our sponsors, a group of volunteers from Saving Saints Rescue flew out to help restore and renovate the shelter and improve the dogs’ lives. For ten days, we worked with lead volunteer Yiota and her team; feeding, cleaning, and carrying out essential maintenance and repairs.

We loved every dog we met, without exception.

But the plight of one special hound, three-year-old Django, really tore at our hearts. Django arrived at the shelter as a pup after being abandoned on the streets. Although now safe, he couldn’t settle at the shelter and would scale the fences every night in a bid to escape. Without the means to build him an extra-secure enclosure, the volunteers had no choice but to chain Django for his own safety. It was a situation no one wanted to continue. That’s when we stepped in…
