Headphone review and shootout where we compare Sony MDR-XB500 VS Sony MDR-XB700 VS Sony MDR-XB1000. These are all Extra Bass headphones, which are suitable for people who love bass (AKA bassheads) and listen mostly to electronica, dubstep, drum & bass, techno, trance, pop and similar genres.

The XB500 is priced at around USD 50 and is suitable for portable music players and devices and does not require an headphone amplifier. The same goes for the XB700, which cost about USD 70. However, the XB1000 is much more expensive, with a price tag of USD 300, and it does require an amp to be driven sufficiently. My conclusion from this review is that the best money for value can be had by getting the Sony MDR-XB700 headphones.
