Description: N302FG, a Piper Warrior, was on approach to Runway 24 at Ann Arbor Municipal Airport (KARB) for landing. Unfortunately, a misjudged flare at an altitude of approximately 70 to 80 feet—well above the optimal height—resulted in a critical landing mishap. The aircraft descended abruptly, leading to a propeller strike upon impact.
During an attempted go-around, sudden wind gusts further compromised control, causing the aircraft to veer off the runway. The nose gear collapsed, exacerbating the damage and confirming the propeller strike. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries. The event highlighted the critical need for precise flare timing and effective wind correction during landing operations.
