Anatomy of the shoulder
What is the anatomy of the shoulder muscles?
Here you can see the scapula (shoulder blade) in the humerus bone. These 2 bones make up the shoulder
joint. So, let us look at the shoulder muscles. You can see the posterior aspect of the shoulder and we can
identify the posterior shoulder muscles:
The teres minor
teres major
the infraspinatus
supraspinatus, triceps
deltoid muscle
Levator scapulae
Rhomboids minor
Rhomboids major
Trapezius
latissimus dorsi
How about the anterior shoulder muscles:
Supraspinatus
Subscapularis
The short head of the biceps
The long head of the biceps
Deltoid
Serratus anterior
Pectoralis minor
Pectoralis major
Clavicular head
Sternocostal head
The short head of the biceps and the long head of the biceps have a common tendon (distal biceps tendon) that is inserted into the elbow at the radial tuberosity. Distal biceps tendon insertion into radial tuberosity of the elbow.
