Hello Music Lovers! Hallo Musikfreunde!
In my series of old school electric bassists I added a "new" name in the title: Joe Osborn (1937-2018).
Like Paul McCartney he started as a guitarist (with Dale Hawkins) and like Sir Paul he was a plectrum player when he switched to the Fender Precision when he joined Bob Luman's band who had already Roy Buchanon on guitar. From 1960-64 he recorded and toured with Ricky Nelson and then decided to concentrate on studio work with the so-called Wrecking Crew. Osborn played on Hits like "San Francisco" (Scott McKenzie), "Eve of destruction" (Barry McGuire) "Up, up & away" (Fifth Dimension) and on many records from theMamas & Papas, Neil Diamond, The Carpenters, Simon & Garfunkel a.o..
I hope you enjoy my bassline of another Duke Ellington chord progression although I play with my fingers and not with the plectron like Joe Osborn.
