Juneau residents are still dealing with the aftermath of the August 5 glacial outburst flood along Mendenhall River. Approximately 290 residences were damaged, but there were no casualties. The flood, caused by Suicide Basin waters, reached peak levels of nearly 16 feet. A volunteer center at Melvin Park is now offering essential items and information to flood victims.
