We're exploring the question: 'Where did all these autistic people come from?'
You've likely noticed an increase in autistic people, or those questioning their neurology. This isn't an 'autism epidemic' - it's the result of better recognition and understanding.

Autism in Adulthood: Seeing the Previously Overlooked
Many autistic adults have gone unrecognised for years, and thought of as 'quirky' or 'socially awkward.' Some received other diagnoses that, while not necessarily incorrect, might be incomplete.
As professionals - even psychotherapy, counselling and psychology clinicians, fundamentally, we need to shift our perspective. And realise that autism isn't best regnosed by intending to spot observable behaviors; it's an internal experience - a different way of perceiving and processing the world.
From Underseen to Understood:
For years, we viewed autism through a narrow lens, focusing on a small subset of individuals with more obvious traits. But autism is incredibly diverse. It doesn't always match stereotypes, and it can present differently across genders, ethnicities, and cultures. Often, it's not immediately apparent from the outside. We can challenge our own biases, listen to autistic voices, and learn about real autism in real people.
All references to client work do not reveal actual client details nor draw upon actual client conversations. On all YouTube videos, they illustrate with vignettes and verbal collages of conversations that they have had in their sessions over decades.
