After finishing up the Fuel and Engine sections of the rebuild in episode 7 of our Fixin' 2 Ride series, Caleb is finally in a position to fix the highly visible eyesore that is the front end on our "failed" cafe racer CB450. While removing the drop bars, cut up triple tree, and strange switches we get the opportunity to fix those wobbly steering bearings and throw on a few missing pieces that should have been on the motorcycle from the start. If you have not realized it yet, this bike seems to be the epitome of a failed cafe racer project right down to its core and it brings up a conversation we have often over here at Common Motor. When getting into your first bike build its easy to find yourself sucked into the world of beautiful bikes scrolling past your eyes all over the internet. Our tried and true method is to work with what you have and fill up your to-do list with what you need to make your bike safe, reliable, and perform well. You will end up with a bike you can ride day after day and not end up burning through your budget before buying what you need to actually enjoy your vintage Honda.
Disclaimer: The first half of this episode was filmed well before Covid-19 hit the shores of the US. Since then, we've changed up the format a bit for Fixin' 2 Ride. To keep the people in the shop to a minimum we will be filming each bike individually and featuring the CB450 "Failed" Cafe Racer and CB200 Barn Find bikes in their own episodes. But don't worry this only means twice as many awesome Episodes as before.

About This Series:
The tale of two cycles. One a failed "cafe racer" project, the other a rusting "barn find," both are destined to ride again!
In our brand new "Fixing To Ride" video series, Common Motor's Jessi and Caleb picked up two Craigslist specials for about $500 each - a failed "cafe racer" project and an old "barn find."
Our plan is to turn them both into fully reliable daily drivers for under $1500 bucks each.
These two motorcycles are great examples of what you might come across when searching for your own Vintage Honda project bike. In this series, we'll walk you through everything we looked for in purchasing them, and the types of repairs and obstacles you might come across when you set out on your own quest to buy and fix up an old Honda to make it your reliable "daily driver".
