Listen. This. Plant.... IS DELICIOUS!

So smooth, creamy, in your face awesomeness.

It was planted a little over a year ago... I think? Who tracks that stuff anyways?? (I guess, usually I do but hey ya win some ya lose some)

It was one of those set it, establish it, and mostly forget it type of plants.

Look at how beautiful it is! Plus it’s low maintenance. Plus it’s delicious. Plus it’s great baby food. Plus you can make starches from it. Plus they make Cheeto types food from this in Columbia (Achiras).


Originally from the Andes, this plant is related to the Cannas Lilly. Actually, it is a Cannas Lilly. It is the edible one. Cannas edulis. Aka Achira and many other common names depending on the many countries it grows in.

But you wont’t ever find it here.

This is one of those long term staple crops. Plants that will make sure you don’t grow hungry.

These are like potatoes that grow into beautiful plants, can handle lots of water, produces edible flowers, leaves you can steam food in (quimbolitos specifically in Ecuador).
