So I have a situation in this corner, which is where the foundation ties in, but I have to put a post in this corner to make everything work. So I've already got this bracing in. The city's been by and signed off on all this, but I've got these bolts sticking out and I've got , the brace. Now it's not recommended that you just cut out a whole bunch of wood, to make that fit.

So this was my fix. I, Trimmed out the corner to make up for the brace, and then I drilled holes, to account for the bolts. So I took out a minimum amount of wood, , okay. So we're going to install this now and see how it turns out. As I mentioned, I drilled those holes and notched and I've got my little holding bar at the bottom.

Wow. And look at that. I didn't even have to hammer it in place.

So this is how it looks fully installed. It's blocked and nice and solid. It's got ledger lock bolts on this side.

I am not a professional carpenter, this is part of a series where I share things about deck building I learned during my first-ever DIY deck build.

In this video, I tackle the challenge of installing a post in a tricky corner, bolts, and the brace present an obstacle. I show an efficient method to trim the corner minimally to fit the brace and drill holes to accommodate the bolts. This maximizes the strength of the post.
