The remaining survivors reunite while driving through town and Alex concludes that Death is reclaiming the survivors according to the sequence of their intended demises on the plane.
Carter, who is next enraged over Terry's loss, stops his car on a train crossing while the others escape attempting to die but changes his mind at the last minute when his seatbelt jams.
Alex manage to save him just before the car is smashed by an oncoming train that knocks a shrapnel from the wreckage into the air, decapitating Billy.
