When you Google "busiest bridge in the world," the answer that comes back is the George Washington Bridge, based on the fact that it carries something like 290,000 vehicles per day. But isn't the busiest bridge (or tunnel) really the one that moves the most people?
This video explores this question, looking at all the ways people move over and under water and into a city. It turns out that trains and buses are vastly more efficient at conveying people into congested areas at busy times than private automobiles. I know, massive revelation, right?
We look at subways in the USA's most populous regions, commuter rail that runs at high frequency at peak times, commuter and express buses that are capable of delivering surprising numbers of commuters when they're given priority.
