In this video, we share with you some upcoming spoilers of how our vanlife build is progressing and teach ya'll how to install a Dometic Mini Heki Plus Skylight in 7 easy steps. Installing a roof light in your van conversion can be a bit of a daunting task. I mean, cutting a hole in the roof of your van is terrifying right?

But just follow these steps and you'll be right:
1. Build a frame for whatever roof light you have decided on
2. Use the roof light frame to measure your cut size on the inside roof of your van conversion
3. Drill four pilot holes. One in each corner of your roof light template. This will give you the exact measurements of your cut but on the roof - Which is where you're going next.
4. Widen the pilot holes to fit a jigsaw blade through and then cut the roof light hole out using a jigsaw.
5. Prep the cut for the roof light install. File back any burred edges and treat with rust proofing stuff. You might also need to build the roof up to the height of the ridges on the van like we did.
6. Install the top hatch of your roof light. Make sure you lay a nice bead of waterproof silicon here.
7. Screw it all together and you're good to go.
