Описание: This lecture introduces Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) as a central figure of modern architecture and the International Style, highlighting his early influences from Charles L’Eplattenier, Auguste Perret, and Peter Behrens, along with his study of classical monuments such as the Acropolis and the Parthenon. It explains how reinforced concrete and industrial thinking shaped his architectural philosophy, leading to the Dom-ino structural system (1914) and his idea of the house as a “machine for living in,” presented in Vers une Architecture (1923). The lecture also introduces his Five Points of a New Architecture (1926) that are pilotis, free plan, free façade, ribbon windows, and roof garden and illustrates their application in projects such as Maison Citrohan, Villa La Roche, Maison Cook, Villa Stein, and Villa Savoye, establishing the foundations of his modernist design principles.
