Indo Ocean Project Dive Master Internship - 2025

Описание: For several months, I joined the Indo Ocean Project (IOP) in Indonesia, a unique internship that combines PADI or SSI Divemaster training with real marine research and conservation work.

During my time there, I worked alongside dedicated marine biologists and fellow interns to help collect data used in IOP’s ongoing research publications. Our days were filled with diving, learning, and contributing to local conservation efforts, and this video captures some of my favourite moments along the way 💙

🐠 Marine Research:
We assisted with BRUV (Baited Remote Underwater Video) deployments, roving surveys, coral health monitoring, and water quality assessments. Each method helps IOP understand reef ecosystems, fish populations, and overall ocean health.

🌿 Coral Identification & Restoration:
We learned how to identify coral species, recognise signs of stress and disease, and practiced coral gardening techniques to support reef recovery.

🦈 Species Identification Workshops:
From fish and coral to sharks, turtles, and macrolife, we completed IOP’s specialty workshops to improve underwater ID skills and contribute accurate data to research logs.

🤝 Community Outreach:
Outside of diving, we visited a local school to teach English and ocean conservation through games and interactive lessons.
