These invasive latex-bleeding plants have become quite the problem in North America. They take over huge swathes of land leaving it unproductive and inhospitable to wildlife, but fortunately they can be tamed using flea beetles from their home range as biocontrol (Aphthona spp.). Join me to learn how you can help control spurge in your own area.
Common names: Leafy Spurge, Wolf's Milk
Scientific name: Euphorbia virgata
*note: some sources give the scientific name as Euphorbia esula, or count these two names as synonyms, but recently these two have been determined to be two separate species, with E. virgata being the one invading North America.
