It's time to start unpacking the DESIGN ELEMENTS 🎭
In this next series of videos we'll be breaking these down one by one to help you prepare for the Eduqas GCSE Drama Exam, starting with the most important foundation – knowing your Stage Types.
Before you tackle lighting, sound, set, and costume design, you need to understand the space you're working with.
🔑 Learn the 5 Key Stage Types:
Proscenium Arch – The classic theatre layout.
End On – Similar to proscenium but with no "frame."
Thrust – Stage surrounded on 3 sides by the audience.
In the Round – Audience fully surrounds the stage.
Traverse – Like a catwalk, with audience on 2 sides.
📌 Why This Matters:
For short mark questions and the 12-15 mark design question in Section A, understanding the stage layout is crucial, and knowing how each type influences design choices will set you up for those higher marks!
