I picked up this bike for £70 and ended up putting over £600 into rebuilding it from the ground up. One of the biggest improvements was building my own wheels. None of the pre-built options on the market were quite right for what I wanted, so I laced and trued a custom set myself—and it made a huge difference to the ride quality.
I chose higher-end components throughout, focusing on durability, performance, and a clean finish. The result is a bike that feels completely transformed: smooth, responsive, and far better than anything I could have bought off the shelf for the same money.
