The U-wing was among ships siphoned from imperial permitted fleets (like that of Alderaan) to feed the Alliance's growing armada; this operation being conducted secretly by Bail Organa. It played a unique role in galactic warfare, being the perfect answer to the rebels need for an able troop carrier that could partake in long range solo missions independent of a cruiser. Equipped with a hyperdrive, shields, and potent twin forward facing canons, the U-wing was excellent for the guerilla warfare waged by the Alliance. Saw Gerrera used his own black and white partisan U-wing for quick in and out strikes against large targets, it can be seen in Rebels delivering devasting blasts to an Imperial Light Cruiser before escaping.

While it was not well suited for a dogfight and was also not a true gunship, neither of these were required by the Rebellion; the more manoeuvrable X-wing and A-wing filled the roles of top tier dogfighters and a well equipped weapon heavy gunship would only be useful in open head on combat with the Empire. Whenever possible Rebels would avoid this anyway, preferring to strike subtly and fast to conserve resources and reduce risk of losing fighters.

This MOC is in the colour scheme of Cassion Andor's U-wing as seen in Rogue One and Andor, I will potentially release the equally beautiful looking blue recolour seen in the Battle of Scarif though I have many projects lined up currently!

Stickers from the 2025 set can be used to really enhance the look and I recommend it! I have included the sticker sheet in the parts list which I found to be quite cheap as well, it gives some great decals to the body of the ship and for some control panel detail.

Twin gunner positions built into the doors that can be folded away for take off

Fold out wings that clip into position when opened and closed!! (These are massive and really imposing when opened, but I have made sure they are incredibly strong and do not sag at all)


Purchasing will include a full parts list, and a parts list for those who happen to own the 2025 set. This is not a modification, and if you do not own the set it is cheaper to just source the pieces on bricklink rather than buy the set then get extra pieces (unless you want the minifigs :) ). Also included are pdf instructions, and the stud.io file
