In today's session, we explain how to attack balls of different heights and different speeds with a simple and effective approach to every ball whether easy or difficult.
The tennis forehand is a complex movement that involves the kinetic chain, a sequence of energy transfer from one body segment to another. The kinetic chain of the tennis forehand starts with the leg drive, where the player generates force by pushing off the ground with their back leg.
The force generated by the leg drive is then transferred through the hips, which rotate and generate torque. This torque is transferred to the core, where the abdominals and lower back muscles stabilize the spine and transfer the energy to the upper body.
The energy from the core is then transferred to the shoulder, where the rotator cuff muscles stabilize the joint and transfer the energy to the arm. The arm acts as a lever, accelerating the racket to strike the ball with maximum force and precision.
The wrist and hand also play a critical role in the kinetic chain of the tennis forehand, as they provide the final adjustments to the racket angle and generate the snap necessary for topspin or slice.
The kinetic chain of the tennis forehand is a finely tuned sequence of muscle contractions and energy transfers, requiring expert coordination and timing to produce a powerful and accurate shot.
