More than 52,000 Austin Energy customers were without power around late on May 28 after a storm that possesses severe wind, hail and lightning swept through the region, damaging electrical equipment and breaking tree limbs, according to the utility’s website.
One social media user in Austin who captured video of the hail damaging her backyard and posted it to X, called the weather, "the most insane hailstorm I've ever seen."
