If you're like most Black Men (and other men of color), you wake up and routinely shave your face at least a few mornings each week. Chances are you've had your fair share of shaving tragedies over the years. From razor burns, razor bumps and skin discolorations for a Black Man shaving with a DE (double edge) razor can be a hazardous activity if you don't do it right.

THE SOLUTION STARTS WITH: Washing your face first. If you're shaving with a DE (double edge)razor, this will help cut down on problems and give you a BBS (Baby Bottom Smooth) shave.

NOTE: you need to make sure you're using warm water. Hot water -- or long showers at any temperature --removes important oils from your skin, making your shave less comfortable.

To start, deep cleaning your face is a two (2) part process:
1. Apply generous amounts of Noxzema Classic Clean to your face and let sit for five (5) minutes then rinse off with warm water.http://bit.ly/noxzema

Now splash your face a few times with warm water before shaving. This stimulates your skin, opens up your pores, softens the hairs and makes it easier for the razor to make contact glide effortlessly across your skin.

Washing and prepping your face won't necessarily give you as close of a shave, but it will cause less inflammation, razor burn and its nasty cousin, razor bumps. This happens when the hair curls up under the skin and leads to rash-like bumps. The best way to prevent it is to make sure your face is well-prepared for a shave. In addition, you'll want to practice good shaving techniques taught here in this video series.
