Mu-tron III vs Q-tron
The Mu-Tron III was realeased in the 70’s and created by Mikael Beigel, before he stop working at Musitronics corp. Decades later he made another version of the Mu-tron III, the Q-Tron, for Electro-Harmonix. They are quite the same… and quite different. You tell me I played two tracks ; one on bass ( bass line is Motor Booty Affair from Parliament) and one on guitar both are getting straight into an A/B box so the peals don’t bias each other;
Disclaimer… I wanted to make the exact same setup for each pedal so you can compare but the gain pot doesn’t work in the same way for each one, so the sweet spot, where the filter opens itself, is not at the same place on the pot (dig it ?) And , that's stupid… When I checked the Q-tron pedal before doing that record something went wrong and the DRIVE DOWN function of the Q-tron -not the wha sound, but the Ahw just died. so I just can’t compare them that sucks I’ll fix it and post another one later
Played on a Jazzbass and a strat, in a looper TC ELECTRONICS Ditto X4, output on a A/B box to each pedal, witch both output on 2 separate track from my sound card, a Berhinger UMC 404 (midas preamps), record on reaper. No EQ, no sim, no emulation, NOTHING.
So the sound is quite raw but that's what you're supposed to have in your amp, whether it's guitar or bass.
