Under King Darius’ rule, Daniel rises to a high position, provoking jealousy among other officials. They trick the king into issuing a decree that forbids prayer to anyone except the king for 30 days. Despite this, Daniel continues praying to God.

As a result, he is thrown into a den of lions. However, God sends an angel to shut the lions' mouths, and Daniel remains unharmed. The next morning, King Darius is overjoyed to find Daniel safe and orders his accusers to be thrown into the den, where they are devoured. The chapter concludes with Darius honoring the God of Daniel, declaring Him as the living God whose kingdom will never be destroyed.
