Описание: The city of Cuenca was born as a fortress, a Muslim castle in the High Middle Ages. After the conquest in 1177 by king Alfonso VIII, the city developed towards an unlikely topography and made a transition from a fortress city to the centre of Christian political and economic power in the Late Middle Ages, and later from a noble city to a clerical city in the 16th and 18th centuries.
The old town today is a historic centre full of symbolic, historical, cultural and urban monuments, characterized by the spectacular integration between natural landscape and architecture. The popular Hanging Houses are multi-floor houses built on top of the rocks. One of them can be visited, it is the modern art museum. Due to its urban uniqueness, Cuenca deserved to be declared a World Heritage City.
Cuenca has an average altitude of 946 m above sea level and around 54000 inhabitants. The town has a new build part. You can see it at the end of the video.
On this cold January day of filming the temperature was 5 degrees Celsius (41 Fahrenheit).
