This Island Felt Like a Private Paradise 🇵🇭

Located north of Cebu, Bantayan is known for its white sand beaches, clear blue water, and relaxed island life — but what surprised me the most was how quiet the island felt.

When I arrived, I quickly realized that there were almost no tourists around. In fact, for most of the time on the beach, I was the only foreign tourist there.

Is Bantayan Island still one of the last hidden gems in the Philippines?

To reach Bantayan Island, I first took a 3-hour bus ride from Cebu City to Hagnaya Port, which cost around 300 Philippine pesos. From there, I took a ferry to Bantayan Island, a one-hour boat ride across clear blue water for about 350 pesos. After arriving at the port, I took a short tricycle ride for 100 pesos to my hotel near the beach.

The journey from Cebu to Bantayan Island is actually quite simple and affordable, which makes Bantayan a great destination for travelers looking for cheap island travel in the Philippines.

On my first morning on Bantayan Island, I walked straight to the beach and was amazed by how peaceful everything felt. The beach was long, quiet, and almost completely empty.

Soft white sand.
Clear blue tropical water.
Almost no tourists.

I spent the morning swimming in the ocean and exploring the coastline. It honestly felt like discovering a secret island in the Philippines that most travelers still don’t know about.

Over the next few days, I explored different parts of Bantayan Island in Cebu Province, experienced local island life, and talked to locals about tourism on the island. Compared to famous destinations like Boracay, Siargao, or Palawan, Bantayan feels much more relaxed and authentic.
