Описание: L. monocytogenes is able to invade, survive within, and spread between normally non-phagocytic cell types due to a number of gene products controlled by the transcriptional regulator PrfA. PrfA is in turn regulated by an environmental shift in temperature to 37°c and by binding of a small molecular cofactor provided by host nutrient availability, both a signal to the bacterium of its intracellular location. The intracellular lifecycle is governed by ten gene products including; internalin (InlA) and InlB which are involved in manipulation of host cell endocytic machinery; InlC which has been shown to enhance listeriopod protrusions and promote cell-to-cell spreading; and ActA which interacts with host proteins to induce actin-polymerisation and enable F-actin based motility within the cytosol.
